15 years iStow Present as the First Loading Instrument in Indonesia
On September 5, 2007, a significant event took place when the first version of iStow, which we called version 0.0, was launched. This program was designed as a tangible contribution from university research to the national and ASEAN maritime industries. With the use of advanced methodologies, continuous refinement, and benchmarking against similar products, iStow was ready to compete with similar imported applications. The early version of this loading software was designed for container ships and was successfully applied to container vessels owned by a leading national shipping company.
Since then, we have continuously evolved to become an essential solution in maritime transportation. As the first Loading Instrument in Indonesia, we filled a gap in this software industry by offering a product that makes cargo planning on ships easy, safe, and efficient.

iStow’s Milestones Until 2022
Version 0
In its initial release, iStow was developed as a web-based application. However, performance limitations that did not meet the standards of a loading computer at the time led to the decision to rebuild iStow as a desktop application. In this version, iStow was not data-driven like the latest version, but it was tailor-made based on the type of ship ordered. Its complex and time-consuming production process eventually led to challenges that spurred the creation of iStow version 1—a crucial milestone in the future improvement of this software’s efficiency and flexibility.
Version 1
This version used a client-server network architecture, enabling users to perform automatic calculations for intact & damage stability, bending moments, and shear forces. In addition, standard documents such as manifests, ullage reports, and bay plans were available for clearance purposes. iStow V1 supported various operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Mac and could be integrated with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems for more efficient management.
Version 2
In version 2, users saw a fully updated version with a fresh, improved, and user-friendly interface. With cloud-based architecture, it offered greater flexibility through support for multiple vessels and the ability to be accessed via Android-based tablets in addition to the previous operating systems. Its responsive or fluid design allowed for optimal display across various devices. Like iStow V1, this version also supported automatic calculations related to stability, bending moments, and shear forces and provided standard documents for clearance purposes.
